(Titusville, FL) -- An incident in Boston has Brevard County elections officials on alert. A vote-by-mail drop box in Boston was set on fire over the weekend. As a result, Brevard's Supervisor of Elections Lori Scott ordered security personnel to guard the county's four drop boxes. The decision on Monday calls for guards to be stationed around the clock outside elections offices in Titusville, Melbourne, Palm Bay and Viera.
USF Studies Impact Of Social Media On Voting

Associate Professor Stephen Neely is among those looking at how social media may be influencing voters, and he says researchers have found that while voters rely on social media to stay updated, they don't trust a lot of what they see. He also warns against unfriending someone for their political posts. Neely recently told Fox 13 News closing off your social circle creates an environment where misinformation and extremism can take root.
Parts Of Panhandle Brace For TS Zeta
(Miami, FL) -- Parts of Northwest Florida are bracing for the arrival Tropical Storm Zeta. The National Hurricane Center has tropical storm and storm surge warnings in effect for the far western Panhandle. Zeta is expected to strengthen and make landfall as a hurricane along the Louisiana coast late Wednesday. Escambia and Santa Rosa counties in Florida remain in the storm's cone of uncertainty.
Seven Moms Removed From School Board Meeting For Not Wearing Masks
(DeLand, FL) -- The mask policy debate is at the center of a showdown with some angry moms in Volusia County. The school board met yesterday to discuss extending its policy requiring masks in schools. Seven moms who were there to speak out against the policy were removed from the meeting by police, though, because they refused to wear masks. They were not arrested, and the board voted to extend the mask policy.
Foster Care Children To Get Free Mobile Devices
(Tallahassee, FL) -- An effort is underway in Florida to connect kids in need with the technology they need. First Lady Casey DeSantis announced yesterday that the Department of Education and DCF have partnered to provide mobile devices to about one-thousand children in foster care. DeSantis says this will help address the unique challenges to educational stability these students confront. DeSantis also announced T-Mobile is partnering with the state to give over 600-thousand families 100 gigabytes of internet per year, free, for the next five years.
Neighbors Call Police Repeatedly On Texas Man's Halloween Decor
(Dallas, TX) -- A Texas man keeps worrying his neighbors with his Halloween decor. Neighbors keep calling the police on Steven Novak's decorations which feature dummies and 20 gallons of fake blood all over his front yard. Novak told the Dallas Observer he was only home twice to greet police after the neighbors repeatedly called the cops. Novak says his favorite part is the tipped over wheelbarrow with garbage bags in it to look like a "failed attempt to dispose of the dismembered bodies." He says he plans to go bigger next year.
