Study: Testicles Could Make Men More Vulnerable To COVID-19

(Undated) -- Men could be more prone to suffer longer, more dangerous cases of the coronavirus because of their testicles. A new study in MedRxix, a journal that publishes non-peer-reviewed research, shows there is a possible gender disparity in recovery times for COVID-19 due to the male reproductive organs. Research indicates this is because the virus attaches itself to a protein that occurs in large quantities within the testicles. Because testicles are more cut off from the immune system, men are likely to deal with harsher cases of the disease. Other studies suggest men make take two days longer than women on average to recover also because they tend to smoke, have high blood pressure and heart disease at higher rates than women. The studied protein is present in the lungs, the gastrointestinal tract and the heart as well.
