Man Killed In Hit & Run
(Cocoa, FL) -- A man is dead after a hit-and-run in Brevard County. It happened early yesterday near Cocoa on Friday Road near SR 520. Cocoa 38-year-old Jason Strandberg was killed. FHP says Melbourne 48-year-old Eric Ferguson called 911 two hours after the crash to claim he hit a pedestrian, and he was arrested.
Shots Fired At Cars In Volusia County
(DeLand, FL) -- More than a dozen cars are showing signs of being shot at in Seminole and Volusia counties. FHP says at least 13 cars were hit yesterday on I-4 and I-95 by shots fired from what could be a BB or pellet gun. No one was hurt, but the cars had glass shattered, and one had damage to a door. No arrests have been announced.
Road Rage Suspected In St. Johns County Shooting
(St. Augustine, FL) -- A shooting in St. Johns County is believed to be a case of road rage. FHP says three cars were hit with gunshots last night on I-95 near International Golf Parkway. No one was hurt, and the cars sustained minor damage. Investigators are looking into whether this is connected to similar incidents last night in Volusia and Seminole counties.
Police Officer Arrested For DUI
(Sanford, FL) -- A police officer in Seminole County finds himself on the wrong side of the law. Sanford Police Officer Adam Feldman was arrested yesterday for drunk driving while off duty. The two-year veteran was taken into custody after a crash in Lake Mary on Rinehart Road. He's now on unpaid leave and under investigation.
Great White Shark Caught Off Broward County
(Fort Lauderdale, FL) -- Some fishermen have video of an experience they say blew them away. Simon Asnes and nine others were on a charter fishing boat yesterday about two miles off Broward County when they hooked a great white shark. They fought with the shark for about 90 minutes, and they estimate it was 13-feet long and over a thousand pounds. Asnes tells 7News he thought the shark was going to yank him out of the boat, and they let it go after recording video of the struggle and tagging the shark.
Motorists Get Stuck On Highway Because Of Tumbleweeds
(West Richland, WA) -- Several people in Washington have an interesting story to tell about their New Year's Eve. A Washington State Patrol trooper tweeted that several cars got trapped on a highway because of tumbleweeds Tuesday night. Trooper Chris Thorson says the tumbleweeds were piled as high as 20-to-30 feet in some places, and he gave it the hashtag tumblegeddon. The highway had to be closed for around ten hours before it was reopened Wednesday morning. They even found one abandoned car trapped in the tumbleweeds at daylight.

(Sault Ste. Marie, MI) -- Quid pro quo is at the top of the 45th annual List of Banished Words released by Lake Superior State University. The university says that phrase had the most nominations, and spiked in November during the impeachment investigation of President Trump. Also on the list: artisanal, curated, influencer, totes, and the phrase OK, Boomer.
GA Boy Swallows Airpod He Got For Christmas
(Atlanta, GA) -- A seven-year-old Georgia boy had to be rushed to the emergency room after he swallowed an Airpod he got for Christmas. Doctors at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta took some X-rays and told the boy's mother, Kiara Stroud, that the wireless headset device was in the boy's stomach and should pass through in a few days. Stroud said everything was fine, but that her son was afraid if he got too close to his phone the devices would connect, and the Airpod would start playing inside him.
