Deadly Shooting In Palm Bay

(Palm Bay, FL) -- Drugs could be partly to blame for a deadly shooting in Brevard County. An unidentified man was shot last night in Palm Bay near Lynbrook Park. No arrest has been announced, and there's no word on a motive. Police have not said why they believe the shooting was drug-related. 

Mother Charged After Child Is Shot

(Daytona Beach, FL) -- A Volusia County woman is facing charges after her child was shot. Daytona Beach Police say a two-year-old girl was shot in the leg yesterday morning in a unit at the Daytona Gardens Apartments on Jean Street. The mother, who was allegedly handling the gun when it went off, is charged with child neglect. The girl is expected to recover.

Deputy Arrested For Ride-Share Incident

(Orlando, FL) -- An Orange County deputy is facing what his boss calls very serious allegations. Deputy Troy Heyer was arrested this weekend after an off-duty incident with a ride-share driver. The driver alleges Heyer pointed a gun at him after a ride, but Heyer's lawyer claims it was self-defense. The 14-year veteran is suspended without pay, and Sheriff John Mina says deputies are held to the highest standards on and off duty. 

Flight From Cuba Makes Emergency Landing At OIA

(Orlando, FL) -- Engine failure is being blamed for an emergency landing in Orlando. A flight from Cuba to Toronto had to land at Orlando International Airport this weekend. About 200 people were on board, but no one was hurt. Another plane was called in for passengers to resume the flight.

Plane Erupts In Flames

(Venice, FL) -- A keen sense of smell and quick thinking are credited with helping two men escape danger in Sarasota County. The men were in a plane at Venice Airport yesterday when one of them smelled smoke, and they quickly evacuated the single-engine plane. Not long after, the six-seat plane caught fire, but the men were not hurt. There's no word on a cause. 

Yacht Fires Cause $20M In Damages

(Fort Lauderdale, FL) -- A fire at a marina is believed to be the costliest in Fort Lauderdale history. Saturday's fire at Universal Marine Center on Southwest 25th Terrace destroyed two yachts. The fire caused more than 20-million dollars in damages. No injuries were reported, and there's no word on a cause. 

Dunkin' Donuts Ditches Foam Cups

(Canton, MA) -- Dunkin' is ditching foam cups. The restaurant chain famous for its coffee and donuts is making the transition to new double-walled paper cups. The company launched the environmentally friendly initiative in 2018, with the goal of eliminating foam cups from its supply chain by the end of 2020. Dunkin' says all of New England, much of the Midwest and California have already made the change. The new cups are made with paperboard and certified by the sustainable forestry initiative.
